Grandes recompensas: la niña que ama el mar será quien salve nuestro futuro

Tengo pendiente compartir con los que tengáis ganas de leerme un montón de cosas sobre este errático verano murciano que ya toca a su fin. Cuando se te acumulan cosas lo vas dejando… Pero hoy he tenido una alegría muy grande y no puede esperar que os la cuente. Como sabéis por la página sobre el mar en este blog, tengo otro sitio web de fotografía submarina. Pues bien, hoy me ha llegado un mensaje de una señora, inglesa, creo, que me escribía para contarme de su hija Sarah, una niña que viene hoy a encarnar vivamente todas las razones por las que uno puede ser optimista y creer aún que este mundo igual se salva del desastre. Os copio el intercambio de mails en cuestión, en el original inglés y traducido.

My name is Sam xxxx, I wanted to send you a quick note letting you know how how much my daughter Sarah learned on your page, http://www.coralrepublic.com/Links.htm . School has just started back up, and one of her teachers assigned them a fun project to get them back into the swing of things- She basically gave them free reign to do a quick essay on something they learned about over the summer- We spent some time at the beach, and she became very interested and concerned with ocean pollution, so she is doing her report about that! She mentioned that your page was very helpful, so I thought we’d shoot you a quick note letting you know!

When I suggested that we send you an email, Sarah had the idea of sharing another article about plastic pollution in the oceans. She picked this article about the great pacific garbage patch, https://www.bbcleaningservice.com/great-pacific-garbage-patch.html . I thought it was a really good article, and such an important topic- I was hoping you might be able to include it on your page? I’d love to show her that she was able to contribute another resource that might help spread some awareness about how bad it really is for our oceans.

Thanks again for encouraging her interest in becoming an activist for this cause- I am really proud of her and think it’s great she is so concerned about the future and reducing pollution and waste. El colegio acaba de empezar y una de sus profesoras les puso como deberes un proyecto divertido para hacerles la vuelta a clase más amena. Básicamente les dio rienda libre para que escribieran un ensayo corto sobre algo que hubiesen aprendido durante el verano. Hemos pasado unos días en la playa y eso le hizo interesarse y preocuparse por el tema de la contaminación del mar. Me dijo que su pagina le resultó muy útil, así que he querido mandarle una notita para que lo sepa. 

Cuando le sugerí que le enviáramos un email, Sarah tuvo la idea de compartir otro artículo sobre la contaminación del plástico en los océanos. Eligió este artículo sobre la gran balsa de plástico del Pacífico https://www.bbcleaningservice.com/great-pacific-garbage-patch.html. Me pareció un artículo muy bueno, y obre un tema tan importante – sería posible que lo incluyera en su página web? Me encantaría enseñarle que ha podido contribuir con otro recurso que puede ayudar a concienciar sobre la situación tan mala que afecta a nuestros océanos.

Gracias de nuevo por estimular su interés en implicarse activamente en esta causa – estoy realmente orgullosa de ella y creo que es genial que se preocupe por el futuro y por la reducción de la contaminación y los desechos. Many thanks for your message. I am exceedingly glad that Sarah found my site useful. It is a very simple, modest thing, little more than a framework to images that I like from my travels. Your feedback and interest is a real heartwarming reward because it tells me that sharing these images does mean doing a bit to help raising awareness on oceans conservation, and this is really important for all of us, and perhaps something that does not get all the attention it deserves nowadays. But I see efforts all around to deal with the plastic problem, and that makes me hope things will indeed improve, especially when young people like Sarah get involved, one can be very optimistic! And it’s a great feeling. I am not that young any more, so it is fantastic to see younger generations ready to make a contribution and ensure that we will enjoy healthy beautiful oceans for all our futures. So I thank Sarah so much for prompting me to include the very relevant link you suggest in my links page, and perhaps others about the same issue that I should definitely research and find.

Su opinión y su interés son realmente gratificantes para mí, porque me indican que compartir estas imágenes sí que ayuda un poco a crear conciencia  sobre la importancia de la conservación del mar, y es que es algo muy importante para todos que quizá no reciba hoy la atención que merece. Pero veo por todas partes esfuerzo por resolver el problema de del plástico marino y eso me llena de esperanza de que las cosas irán a mejor, especialmente cuando veo a gente joven como Sarah implicarse en ello. Hay razones para ser optimistas! Y eso es maravilloso. Ya no soy tan joven, y es estupendo saber que hay jóvenes decididos a poner de su parte y asegurar un futuro en el que los océanos se conservan sanos y bellos para el disfrute de todos. Así que le agradezco a Sarah la sugestión de incluir el muy pertinente enlace que me propone en mi página de enlaces, y puede que otros sobre el mismo tema que será útil buscar y referenciar también.
